Recruitment conferences, by their very nature, have a huge challenge when it comes to standing out from the crowd of other events in this space, and in making the whole enterprise so distinct and unique that they live long in the memory.
Step forward TAtech Europe, in Portugal last week with a tick, tick, and a double-tick on all fronts.

Hosted by father and son team, Peter and Pete Weddle, TAtech (The Association for Talent Acquisition Solutions) is the trade organization for the worldwide community of organizations that offer technology-based products and services for recruitment.

TAtech Europe is part of their very successful and long running series of recruitment technology events, held globally, and this was the third such conference to be held in Europe. The 2-day conference agenda includes keynote speakers, round table discussions, demos and debates.

This year, I was asked to join with Peter, and act as MC for a RECex event on the day before the main conference. RECex – recruitment explained, is a TED Talk formatted event specifically for the recruitment industry, which gives a platform to experts in our field to give short, passionate talks on their chosen HR and TA related topics.

The aim is to give the kind of insight to organisations, processes and challenges, which are not normally shared. The talks are presented in a byte-sized format that is professionally filmed, to then be easily shared and digested on social media platforms.

Our past RECex events have an amazing array of talks in our archive, which is further added to by our Lisbon speakers.

The line-up of 11 speakers at RECex Lisbon really could not have been more informative, entertaining, passionate, diverse, and sometimes hilarious. To close the event, we had the riotous, unscripted, and provocative pairing of Chad & Cheese, famous of course for their eponymous podcast.

Universally known for their unflinching scrutiny of tech providers in the recruitment space, I thought it was about time to turn the interviewing table on them, and find out just who the hell they think they are, and what goes on behind the scenes at Chad and Cheese Towers.

I have to say I totally enjoyed the full array of activities throughout the TAtech Europe event, and would highly recommend attending whenever they come within travelling distance of your town.
